Casa Miguel is our house in the village of Bedar in Almeria in Southern Spain.
Dating back to the time of the Moors, the village is nestled on the lower slopes of the Filabres mountains overlooking an agricultural plain that reaches out to the Mediterranean Ocean and the coastal resorts of Mojacar and Garrucha about fifteen minutes drive away. Bedar is an old mining village full of character and charm with many original cottages lining its narrow streets and alleyways. It is a walking village, built for people and donkeys rather than cars, but that really is part of its appeal.
Near to the house there is Maria Rosa's bread shop (where they also sell delicious breakfast pastries), a small supermarket - Super Clara, a bit-of-everything shop, a doctor and a chemist. The village also has a couple of friendly bars and restaurants and a public fuente (fountain) that provides drinking water.
It is beautiful, peaceful and Spanish.
