The God of Cats

The God of Cats

Out back of the apartment there are a lot of cats. They do what urban cats do, they fight and yowl and mark their territory.

A week or so ago we had a very windy night and a pair of trousers blew down from one of the balconies and landed on the garage roof below. Almost immediately an entente cordial broke out amongst the normally antagonistic moggies. Like the best of friends they snuggled together on the trousers purring contented praises to the God of Cats who delivers benevolence from above.

This feline truce lasted for a few days until the trousers were once again blown away by the wind and normal hostilities were resumed.

And here is the view looking east towards the Plaza Catalunya, see where the jazz thing is coming from...it all joins up in a wierd sort of way.

This is the view looking west from the front of our building, just wait until the trees come into bloom

I really love the art deco (modernista) scroll work that has been acid etched in the marble and the deco lamp and woodwork. In addition to the jazz thing, I´ve also started to re-read all of the Raymond Chandler, Marlowe novels and this reminds me of a description of a hotel from 1930´s LA

El asensor

El asensor

This is the lift in the entrance lobby to our apartment building. Its a very cool retro (original) lift with metal gates that whirs and clicks as it rattles its way to the sixth floor. Everytime I go up and down it feels like being in a scene from a David Lynch movie as the lights and shadows of the different floors glow and fade. I´ll take an mpeg of the journey sometime and post it.

Now that the trees are in leaf, this is the view from the front balcony along the Gran Via up to Plaza Espana on the right and along to the Plaza Catalunya on the left. Directly ahead over the roofs you can see the Montjuic Park.
